Telecom sources at 1560 nm, when frequency doubled, are convenient sources for manipulation of cold rubidium atoms, which resonant wavelength is 780 nm. We have built a source based on frequency doubling of a telecom diode, amplified to 10 W. We get 2 W of power at 780 nm. For more information on our frequency doubling set-up see our paper.
